LE VIE DEI FARMACI di Michele Mellara e Alessandro Rossi
JURY’S STATEMENT: The film looks into a very topical and vexed contest through a wide and skillful use of the cinematographic narration. The therapeutic innovation and the alternative pharmacology, daughters of the biodiversity, are not accompanied with a widespread and democratic availability of drugs but supporting and encouraging the know-how speculation in favour of a business, which is of secondary importance only to the military one. The film bravely stress the attention on the excessive power of the profit which imposes the robbery of resources and rights.
MERCANCIA di Andrea Zambelli
JURY’S STATEMENT: The film shows in twenty minutes the curse of the drug from a single and direct perspective. It shows how far away and different it is in comparison with the one of the destination market. The narration of the coca’s growing and its production by the Colombian peasants is narrated in a rigorous way without any kind of external intervention in a matter in which, usually, the media overdo in comments and interpretations.
Legambiente Jury’s Special mention:
PANCEVO di Antonio Martino
JURY’S STATEMENT: Hard, incisive and captivating report of an environmental and social disaster close to us. It’s not only the absurd bombardment of an oil-chemical plant by Nato, but the paradoxical situation of everyday life in the smog emergency.
The narrative coherence of this film is so smooth that the photography, the editing, the characters and the sound contribute to arouse worries and questions, to unmask responsibility and cynicism and to remember Pancevo as a warning for the “civilized” Europe.
